Apple plans to scale up production in India

Under the U.S.-China trade war, it will become more difficult to produce electronic products in China. Apple is considering moving production of its more premium models and scale up production in India to reduce the dependence of China.

Apple would also be able to avoid a 20 percent import duty by producing the iPhone in India to make it more competitive in India’s premium smartphone market. According to a report, Apple only has a 1 percent share of India’s smartphone market as the premium price has pushed customers in India away.
