Google Pixel 4A & Pixel 4A 5G are officially released

After releasing several teasers of Pixel 4a last week, Google has finally announced the Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 on 3 August. Let’s take a look at the new phones presented by the tech giant.


Let’s start with the specs. Pixel 4A is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G processor with 6Gb of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage.

It also packs with a 3,140mAh battery, which Google claims that the battery is able to deliver “up to 24 hours” of usage with a “mix of talk, data, standby, and use of other features, with always-on display off.”

The phone comes with 18W fast charge support through a USB-C port and a physical fingerprint scanner on the back.

For display, Pixel 4A carries a 5.81-inch OLED display with FHD+ resolution (2340 x 1080 pixels), which is a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display also comes with 60Hz refresh rate. It has a hole-punch design, which houses a single 8MP Sony IMX355 sensor with f/2.0 aperture, 84° FOV, and EIS support.

The camera is a single 12.2MP Sony IMX363 image sensor with f/1.7 aperture lens, 1.4µm pixel size, 77° field-of-view, Dual Pixel Phase Detection, OIS, and EIS support.

It also supports 4K video shooting at 30fps and is capable of shooting slow motion 120fps video in 1080p.

Google also empowered the camera with Live HDR+, dual exposure controls, Night Sight with astrophotography, Social Share, Portrait Mode, and Super Res Zoom features.


On the software side, Pixel 4A runs Android 10 and Google says the device will get 3 years of Android OS upgrades from the current version to Android 13. 3 years of monthly Android security patch updates will also be granted to the user.

The Pixel 4a is listed at $349 and is available for pre-order on Amazon now. The earliest shipment of the device in black is expected to be carried on 20 August.

Google is also selling Fabric cases made from over 70% recycled materials available in basically Black, Blue Confetti, and Static Grey. In October, the phone will also be available in the UK, Ireland, Germany, Australia, Japan, and Canada, and in India.

While the Pixel 4A 5G carries a $499 price tag, Google has not released the shipment time of the device yet.
