Blizzard is celebrating the ten-year anniversary of one of its most iconic game and perhaps the largest influence on the modern esports, StarCraft 2.
“To commemorate this decade of comradery in the Koprulu Sector, we’re introducing some player-requested features to the game, along with a few extras we hope you’ll enjoy.” , Blizzard wrote, releasing the game’s biggest patch focusing on player experience.
One big reason of StarCraft II being able to stay around for a decade is that fans keep creating custom campaigns in the game. In patch 5.0, new tools will be added to empower players to create customized campaigns easily. Here are the new features presented by the anniversary patch:
New “Arcade” map genre: You can make creative story campaigns with map-to-map loading, allowing other players to access your custom campaigns through the StarCraft Arcade.
New campaign achievements: Completing all of the missions, including the Nova Covert Ops pack, to get all of the new achievements will unlock the Stone Announcer.
Prestige talents for co-op commanders: You can replay level 1-15 for progression up to three times to earn Prestige Talent for each tier.
Countdown to Start Timer: Adding a short countdown to the start of a StarCraft II matchmade game. Players aren’t immediately dropped into gameplay after the loading screen.
Choose Game Server in Custom Lobbies: You can select the game server where the lobby hosted when creating a new custom lobby.
